Ordinary women alongside the models starring in the SS24 fashion show on Monday 18 September at 2.00 pm at Palazzo Isimbardi in Milan
Milan, September 2023. A woman. One hundred, a thousand women. An Infinity. Each one different and all real, capable of addressing the tale of contemporary femininity signed by Martino Midali. A creative path aimed at the exploration of a free, revolutionary aesthetic, consistent with those values of inclusiveness and self-expression beyond stereotypes that have made the designer -and his brand- the storyteller of a democratic and versatile fashion. The SS24 collection's performers on the Palazzo Isimbardi catwalk, alongside the models, were six ordinary women who proved, once again, Midali's style. A joyful vision that continues, far from standardisation, designed for a body that is never the same and, for this reason, ever more authentic in freely expressing its essence and living it through what it wears.
The freedom to be ourselves is what drives Martino Midali's hands in outlining a collection that, like a story, follows those who choose it, through stylistic codes built on the person and respectful of a perfect fit, from which comfort is never detached. The protagonist of the collection is the pleated fabric that embraces the brand's solicitations, successfully experimenting with everyday life. The texture, in fact, breaks out of the schemes and becomes the chosen fabric for garments of a sophisticated yet practical dailywear, versatile and untied from the concept of occasion. Green light to soft dresses, playing with sleeves, overlapping, and lengths; alongside the sleek jumpsuits, the key garment of the wardrobe, and the two-piece suits, fast and transversal, with their combination of blouses all different and often completed with a hood. Passion for long, wrap-around coats and jackets meets with that of stripes - on trousers, wide blazers and oversize jackets - whilst there is room for the unexpected with bermudas untied from a casual mood - which leaves a trace in the design with patch pockets - to take on a more elegant side, with the complicity of silk shantung and the matching long jacket. Minimal aesthetics, the cult of overlapping, oblique cuts and unstructured silhouettes - but with soul - are accompanied by a palette of milk white, brown, coral red, blue and acid green for an immersion in the world of Martino Midali, completed by the Princess Bag, the brand's iconic golden bag. "
Suggesting a flavour, a vision, without setting standards: fashion for all women, for all ages, for all sizes": the same choice made by the women who took to the catwalk to represent Martino Midali's philosophy and who, in their diversity, are united by his style. Starting with the unforgettable Susanna Messaggio, TV star, alongside another TV face, Roberta Termali; together with assistant CEO Barbara Lancini, biologist Laura Ciardelli, human resource manager Isabella Giacchino and Elisabetta Negri d'Oleggio, interior architect.
To ideally support them was the voice of the multifaceted Sardinian artist Ambra Pintore, able to give words and sounds to diversity, transcending prejudice, in the name of freedom, which is always freedom, to be, to do, to live. Of wearing, even, what one wants, as she reiterates in her song 'Sa este', a manifesto of struggle against commonplaces in which one finds the very heart of Martino Midali's signature, beyond fashion, beyond style, in the very heart of femininity.
